Learn how to treat hemorrhoids and get rid of hemorrhoids fast with this easy treatment at home!
WHAT IS HEMORRHOIDS:
Hemorrhoids otherwise known as piles are lumps inside and around your bottom (anus). They often get better on their own after a few days. There are things you can do to treat and prevent piles.
Common symptoms of hemorrhoids include,
• Bright red blood after you poo
• An itchy anus
• Feeling like you still need to poo after going to the toilet
• Mucus in your underwear or on toilet paper after wiping your bottom
• Lumps around your anus
• Pain around your anus
HOW TO GET RID OF HEMORRHOIDS:
You can try the following to help get rid of hemorrhoids,
1- Drink lots of fluid and eat plenty of fibre to keep your poo soft
2- Avoid toilet paper until your piles have gone: This one is a real game changer for piles, you see excessive wiping with toilet paper can lead to micro-tears in the anal tissue, causing bleeding and discomfort.
3- Try a toilet paper alternative: Instead of toilet paper until your piles have gone clean around your anus with just water and pat the area. This is going to be nice and gentle giving the piles optimum conditions to recover.
Now if you have a bidet it's much easier but if you don't there are portable bidets you can buy online or even make one quite easily home there’s loads of instructional videos you can find on this on youtube.
4- Take paracetamol if piles hurt - But It’s best to speak to your pharmacist about this so they can make sure it’s safe and suitable for you to use as well as give advice.
5- Try a steroid and local anaesthetic ointment or suppository - But It’s best to speak to your pharmacist about this so they can make sure it’s safe and suitable for you to use as well as give advice
6- Use an ice pack wrapped in a towel to ease discomfort
7- Gently push a pile back inside
8- Cut down on alcohol and caffeine (like tea, coffee and cola) to avoid constipation
Here is a list of things you should not do when you have hemorrhoids,
1- Do not wipe your bottom too hard after you poo
2- Do not ignore the urge to poo
3- Do not push too hard when pooing
4- Do not take painkillers that contain codeine, as they can cause constipation
5- Do not take ibuprofen if your piles are bleeding
6- Do not spend more time than you need to on the toilet
WHEN TO SEEK MEDICAL ATTENTION FOR HEMORRHOIDS:
Speak to your healthcare professional if,
• You have symptoms of piles and they're getting worse or there's no improvement after 7 days of treatment at home
• You keep getting piles
• You notice a change around your anus that is not normal for you
Seek Urgent advice and ask for an urgent appointment with your healthcare professional if,
• You have piles and your temperature is very high or you feel hot and shivery and generally unwell
• You have pus leaking from your piles
